of updates and exams

first things first: for anyone interested, trigonometry has been updated and i am looking forward to completing it.

i spent most of yesterday marking final exams for cpsc 211 students (intro software development) and made a startling discovery: i think i liked it better when i was so junior that i was only allowed to mark the true false, multiple choice and short answer questions. on the other hand, if i hadn't understood how to use generics in java before, i am certainly well-versed in it now.

turok

today was one of those days that makes you want to pick up a blaster and kill dinosaurs.

no, really.

well, maybe not dinosaurs, but definitely something. or maybe it was just me. at any rate my day disappeared in a puff of suppressed violent tendencies. on a different note, a friend from propaganda dropped by the lab today and i got a nifty t-shirt and a look at some of the artwork from the game. fabu. turok was the game that made me realize that i was headed for geekdom when it came out on the n64, and this one is more of a return to the feel and intent of the classic turok of the comics. i can't wait.

the bitter and suite of it

having been duly rescued, i now believe that i have things well in hand. mostly, and you should start seeing some content forthwith.

on a tangential note: i am halfway through season 3 of xwp in my quicktime xena marathon. some observations:

so long and thanks for sleeping with the fish

with any luck, most of you have seen the finale of the sopranos, and i’m not spoiling anything. If not, sorry. also if you’ve never watched it - you should. what a fucking amazing ending. i was right there in tony’s world - not knowing if the next guy to walk through the door was going to kill me or my family. the total uncertainty. when meadow was parking, when aj walked in sandwiched between unknown men, when the guy slipped into the bathroom - you don’t know if tony is about to get killed or not - and neither does tony. that’s how he lives his whole life. i didn’t need any resolutions and for once a writer/producer didn’t try to give them to me. i thought it was interesting that the cat replaced the ducks. i miss the ducks (not as much as i miss wash - but a) wash had to die and b) that’s a different show). on the update front - as soon as i figure out how to fix all the broken and missing links, there will be one. ciao.
